For 12 years, Laure Genillard played an important role in introducing young British and European artists to UK audiences and helping establish a dialogue amongst artists and institutions internationally. The gallery was founded in Foley Street, Fiztrovia in 1988 where it operated for ten years before moving to Clerkenwell for a further three years until 2001. With a minimal and conceptual approach and serving site-specific requirements of contemporary installations, the gallery is remembered for presenting for the first time cutting-edge artists such as Martin Creed, Fiona Banner, Peter Doig, Jane and Louise Wilson, Sylvie Fleury and Maurizio Cattelan amongst others. In the Spring of 2007, Laure Genillard relocated in the West End at 2 Hanway Place, a small street on the north west corner of Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road, continuing a program of contemporary art installations by British and international artists. Every autumn, we curate a group exhibition called Presque Rien (Next to Nothing), inviting mid-career artists who have a special take on the idea of the small gesture.
